"Tenebrae" (Service of the Shadows) will be held at St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church on Good Friday evening, April 18, at 7:30 p.m.

All are invited to share in this most dramatic of services in the Church Year which recounts the passion of Our Lord with the reading of the 

Biblical account according to St. John's Gospel and features somber hymns and a progressive darkening of the sanctuary.  At the end of

the service, in total darkness, the congregation joins together in confessing the Apostles' Creed and, at the mention of "on the third day

He arose again" the acolyte brings a single candle into the church and places it upon the altar. The liturgy concludes with the praying of 

the Lord's Prayer and all exit in silence.  Worship leaders include Pastor Lescallette, Lloyd Byers, Richard Wallis, Beth Sowers, and
